"BLAQ"
The name "Blaq" — pronounced "Black" — is my ancestral inheritance. A seed sown by my father, Sean Blaq, a visionary who built universes from cotton and spoken word. Before he passed, he gave me the name and trusted me to make it my own. When I create as Blaq or Blaq Qane, I carry his legacy forward while carving my own path.
Mourning becomes creation. Memory becomes ritual. Diaspora becomes abundance. The name Blaq runs through my work — not as a fixed signature, but as a living thread connecting my father's spirit to my practice of bearing witness to family, culture, and the spaces between.
To create as Blaq is to remember. To build an archive. To keep my connection to my ancestors alive — and growing.
